BETTER FINANCE and AEMEC are pleased to announce the winners of the Euroshareholders Award 2025, held on 12 June 2025 in Madrid. This year’s honourees are Inditex and Banco Santander, recognised for their exemplary commitment to shareholder rights, corporate governance, and transparent communication.

Established by BETTER FINANCE in 2009, the Euroshareholders Award highlights listed companies that demonstrate outstanding practices in corporate transparency, inclusiveness, and the fair treatment of shareholders. The 2025 edition focused on companies listed on Spain’s IBEX 35 index whose Annual General Meetings (AGMs) stood out for upholding the highest standards of investor protection and participation.

Inditex was awarded the Euroshareholders Award for Best Practice in Transparency in General Shareholders’ Meetings, in recognition of the company’s strong commitment to providing equal conditions for both in-person and virtual shareholders. The jury also highlighted the company’s high-quality, multilingual documentation, ease of access to AGM information, and clarity of governance disclosures, which serve as a benchmark for listed companies across Europe.

Banco Santander received the Euroshareholders Award for Best Shareholder Dialogue, distinguishing its consistent efforts to maintain open, meaningful, and transparent communication with individual shareholders. The award recognises Santander’s proactive engagement practices and its responsiveness to shareholder concerns during and beyond its AGMs.

The awards ceremony was jointly organised by BETTER FINANCE, the European Federation of Investors and Financial Services Users, and AEMEC, the Spanish Association of Minority Shareholders of Listed Companies, with the support of several European investor organisations.

The gala followed the International Investors’ Conference held earlier in the day, which focused on the theme: “Empowering Minority Shareholders in European Capital Markets.” The event brought together European policymakers, legal experts, and investor advocates, including Members of the European Parliament, senior representatives from national financial supervisory authorities, executives from IBEX-35 companies, and leaders of retail investor associations.

“The Euroshareholders Award honours companies that uphold the principles of shareholder democracy and transparent governance,” said Guillaume Prache, President of BETTER FINANCE. “At a time when restoring trust among individual investors is more vital than ever, these awards showcase what genuine commitment to shareholder rights looks like in practice.”

BETTER FINANCE and AEMEC congratulate Inditex and Banco Santander for setting new standards in shareholder inclusion and corporate responsibility within the European financial landscape.
