Born in 2019, the Sustainable Finance Observatory (formerly 2DII) is an internationally recognised think tank focused on mobilising private finance to support the sustainability transition. The Observatory’s mission is to influence financial practices among economic actors, promote transparency and accountability in financial markets, and develop practical tools, research and methodologies that help investors, financial institutions and policymakers redirect capital toward sustainable, low-carbon economic activities. Its work spans research and data analysis, tool and framework development, capacity building, coalition coordination and advocacy campaigns, all designed to support the transition to a more sustainable financial system and real-world impact. The Sustainable Finance Observatory is an associate member of BETTER FINANCE.
