Bund der Versicherten e.V. (BdV) is a German consumer protection association established in 1982 to safeguard the interests of insured persons. It provides independent information and advice on insurance and pensions and monitors compliance of insurers with legal and economic standards, representing over 50,000 members. BdV also negotiates consumer-friendly members’ insurance contracts and provides tools such as model letters and contract reviews to support policyholders. In its advocacy role, BdV monitors insurers’ compliance with legal and economic standards, challenges unfair or opaque contract clauses, and has initiated model legal cases that have led to consumer-friendly court decisions and legislative improvements. BdV is a full member of BETTER FINANCE.
