On Friday 26 October the joint meeting of the World Federation of Investors (WFI) and World Federation of Young Investors (WFYI) at the Paris Stock EURONEXT marked the conclusion of the annual meeting of the WFI. This year the annual meeting coincided with the 50th anniversary of the French Federation of Individual Investors and Investor Clubs (F2iC).

In parallel with these different meetings, the WFI held a high-level conference under the title "Why are Individual Investors still important Partners for Businesses?".

"Are individual investors in Europe endangered/extinct species" was the question for the first roundtable of the event, addressed by the Managing Director of the European Federation of Investors and Financial Services Users (BETTER FINANCE), Mr Guillaume Prache, WFI's Vice-President and President of the Swedish Association for the Promotion of Shareholding, Mr. Lars-Erik Forsgart, Secretary General of the World Federation of Young Investors (WFYI), Ms. Elizavéta Lindström, and a member of the board of the French Financial Regulator (AMF), Mr. Christian Schricke.

For the second roundtable EURONEXT's Executive Director, Mr. Anthony Attia, the Secretary General of the European Federation of Employee Share Ownership, Mr. Marc Mathieu, the Director of the German Investors' Association, Ms. Jella Benner-Heinacher, and the Executive Partner of Nextstage, Mr. Jean-David Haas looked into the revival of individual investors.

Also discussed at a roundtable at the special reception held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of F2iC, was the future of investor clubs in the digital age.
