The 8th international congress of the European Federation of Building Societies (EFBS) - ‘Brave New World for Finance’ - took place on 19 October 2016 in Budapest. The conference was opened by Mr. Dániel Palotai, the Managing Director of the Hungarian National Bank, and Mr. Boris Vujčić, Governor of the Croatian National Bank. Six roundtable discussions took place and the third session - ‘Financial stability, consumer protection, long-term financing – European and national initiatives’, featured a presentation by BETTER FINANCE board member and VZMD President Mr Kristjan Verbič. The presentation on ‘Foreign currency loans in Romania and measures taken by authorities to protect consumers’ was prepared in cooperation with European Federation of Investors and Financial Services Users (BETTER FINANCE) and Romanian Association of financial services users (AURSF).
