On the 22 February 2017, 9 European organizations and associations, including BETTER FINANCE, launched a new European Platform for Financial Education.

The initiative responds to the need for financial education and to boost financial literacy in Europe.  The founding partners of this platform believe that a sustainable financial system is based on two pillars: well-functioning, competitive and sound financial institutions and financial literate consumers, investors and entrepreneurs. It is important to stress though that financial education in no way relieves financial institutions of their responsibility when providing individuals and businesses with effective, clear and comprehensible information.

Because financial literacy is essential for investors, entrepreneurs and consumers to manage their finances and to make informed decisions, the platform will serve to exchange ideas, information, insights and experience. The platform will also constitute a discussion forum on the role of the EU to promote financial education.
