The Evidence based Investor has published an interview with the founder of the People’s Trust, Daniel Godfrey. In the interview, Mr. Godfrey discusses how the People’s Trust will create a new innovative model for asset management companies. Mr. Godfrey suggests that the People’s Trust will focus on long term value investing using a seven-year time horizon. The company will not benchmark against annual indexes and will offer its employees shares instead of bonuses. The model has been developed to offer investors more options, increase market stability, and potentially improve corporate governance. Mr. Godfrey suggests that the real underlining problem in the financial sector has been the tendency to focus on short term gains and not to create real long term value. Mr. Godfrey recently spoke on the need and benefits of long term investment strategies at the BETTER FINANCE conference on the Capital Markets Union in September.
