A few weeks following the event, the Austrian newspaper Börsen-Kurier revisited the EuroFinUse and IVA Conference on Financial Repression of 18 October in Vienna in a special edition (Anlegerschutz Spezial). The lack of knowledge of the concept of Financial Repression in countries like Austria and Germany - where a popularly accepted translation of the term does not even exist - and the need to discuss the impact of this issue on consumers and investors as well as the necessary  measures we expect governments, central banks and supervisory authorities to take, highlights the need to keep the debate alive. In an interview by the Börsen-Kurier, EuroFinUse’s Managing Director, Guillaume Prache, stressed the importance of the subject as it deals with the discrimination of private investors vis-à-vis institutional investors who have access to better information and a better understanding of the tools at their disposal. According to Mr Prache it is not necessary to give private investors the same knowledge as the institutional investors. Instead he advocates for a simplification of the information available in order for it to be accessible and intelligible for the average investor. In this respect EuroFinUse calls for the development of simplified, transparent and consistent information documents for all investment products in the market, including life insurance products.
