On Wednesday 18 February 2015, the Commission launched an in-depth consultation drawing future policy lines, known as a Green paper, calling on all interested stakeholders to participate in the following three months. The outcome of the exercise will shape an Action Plan towards an EU-wide Capital Markets Union (CMU).
The purpose of the Green Paper is to garner input from all interested parties (e.g. the European Parliament, the Council, other EU institutions, national parliaments, businesses, the financial sector and others) on the Commission’s overall approach to putting in place the building blocks for CMU by 2019, the underlying economic rationale of CMU, and on possible measures which could be taken to achieve this objective.
The deadline to respond to the paper is 13 May 2015.
