Virtual Press Conference: Experiences with virtual general meetings in Europe in 2020

The general meeting is one of the cornerstones of shareholder democracy. It is not only where voting takes place, but also the only place where board members have to answer directly to their shareholders. The Corona pandemic has changed this situation dramatically, and not only in Germany.

Together with DSW, BETTER FINANCE has now, for the first time, investigated how selected EU Member States have reacted to the corona pandemic with regard to the general meetings of listed companies, how the measures taken in each case have been perceived by shareholders and their representative organisations and what demands shareholders have expressed for post-corona general meetings.
